We
adopted Clementine from the SPCA in August, 1987 when she was
eight weeks old. She was named by my husband after the song Oh, My
Darling Clementine, because I kept saying how darling she was.
Our two year old cat, Scamper, did not think she was so darling.
Clementine was determined to make friends even when Scamper ignored
her and hissed at her. Clem's persistence paid off, and today they
are inseparable and are the best of friends.
Clementine definitely thinks she rules our household, so her nickname
is "The Queen." She is the boss of the two other cats and one
Chihuahua (who thinks he is a cat too). Clementine's favorite
activities are playing with the "Cat Dancer," sleeping in
her rocking chair, flopping in the floor right at our feet to get our
attention, and curling up with me and my husband when we watch TV.
She is also the only animal in our home who will come when my husband
whistles.
Clementine is our most social cat and really enjoys it when we have
company. She obviously knows what a beautiful cat she is and likes to
show off for an audience. She is a constant source of joy and
entertainment for us.
