Barrington
and our other cat, Sunset, both spend most of their days
wondering why their humans don't pet them and feed them more. They
both know how to roll over on command and they're very proud of that
fact. Sunset learned how to roll over first, but Barrington does it
faster. They both come when they're called and they both respond to
their own names and not the other one's (although they both respond
to us if we say "kitties"). They also respond to certain
words with great zest: they know "Are you guys hungry?"
"Do you want some of this?" and certain words really get
them going, like "cheese" and "fish." Barrington
also knows the phrases "it's a bug" and "it's a
birdie." He knows to look for a bug inside on the wall and to
look for a birdie outside in the trees.
Barrington is very outgoing and asks every visitor to the house to
give him a good scratch on the head. Barrington loves to chase catnip
bubbles around the room as they are blown by a fan. We buy the catnip
bubbles at a local upscale pet store. They are manufactured by Lasso
Productions in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. At first, he would step
on them and then be completely perplexed as to where they went, but
now he just stomps on as many as possible and, if he's lucky, claps
his paws on them in mid-air!
He and Sunset were not from the same litter -- their birthdays are
two days apart -- we got the from the same cat rescue company at the
same time. As he still does, Barrington was chasing Sunset around the
room full of 30+ little kittens. I had promised my wife she could
have a cat and she chose Sunset for her tiger stripes. I decided to
get Barrington, too, since they seemed to be getting along so well.
