About Us
Costa, the Cat of the Day
Name: Costa
Age: Two years old
Gender: Male
Breed: Cat
Home: San Diego, California, USA

Costa is a rescued kitty. He actually selected me -- I went to the shelter to adopt a white, female kitten and came home with a gray and white, male kitten. He is very friendly, affectionate, and playful. Here is his story:

"My human adopted me when I was eight months old, and I am now a full-grown "lyin' king." She spoils me - in fact, all I have to do is roll over on my back and look at her upside down and I get extra treats!! My human is used to raising dogs, and sometimes we forget that I'm a cat. I taught myself how to retrieve, so when she throws one of my favorite toys -- I'm very partial to furry and feathered things -- I'll run and get it and bring it right back. She has also taught me some cool tricks! I sit, sit up and beg, and "high five" -- all on command!!! I know very important key words, and respond when she says "tricks," "dinner," or "go outside."

We play games, too. I am particularly fond of hide-n-seek and tag. We go for walks around the condo building where we live, and sometimes my human even takes me to PetSmart (my favorite place!) or to her office. I get a lot of attention cause I walk on a leash. I love attention!! I have a girlfriend who lives next door. She's a female Siamese and her name is Coco. Sometimes Coco comes over and knocks on the door cause she wants to play. Then I have to "talk" to my human to let her know I want to go out, too. I also like to help my human when she works. And if she is very involved in writing (she's a technical writer), sometimes I have to bring a toy over and drop it on her foot so she'll remember to play with me. I think I have a very "charmed" life now, even though I have cardiomyopathy. All that exercise and playing we do is good for my heart, just like exercise is good for human hearts. I know my "mommy" loves me very much, and I love her very much, too! I am a very happy cat!"

This is Costa's human again. Although I know I am just a little bit prejudiced about how cute he is, other people fall in love with him, too. The pet sitter that took care of him a couple of weekends ago said he was just like a dog, and that "she fell in love with Costa this weekend." He has a lot of personality!!
