About
a month after the loss of my beloved cat, Sophie, I began the
search for a new kitten. During a visit to the local animal shelter,
I found myself captivated by a lively tiger kitten with absolutely
perfect stripes. When I took her out of the cage, she climbed
immediately onto my shoulder, purring loudly as I signed the papers
for her release. Lucy Pooter (so named for an initial digestive
problem) integrated easily into our household. At two, she is the
leader and instigator of all mischievous acts. She learned early on
that an emphatic "No!" followed by wild clapping means
virtually nothing, as her antics always end up charming whoever is
trying to discipline her. She's not what anyone would consider to be
a lap cat, but she is very companionable and communicative. She loves
to play and even her cat siblings seem awed by her spectacular
acrobatics.
