We've
had Boo-grrs since Feb. 1992, when we adopted her from the
Anchorage Pound - on her last day, a bedraggled sorry-looking cat
that had given up hope. Huddled in the back of her cage, she was a
sorry, scared, and matted mess. An Alaskan-born resident of the USA;
she has put in lots of mileage (unwillingly) flying from one location
to another - but now is established in her retirement home in
Seldovia, Alaska. After a few weeks of adapting to her new home, she
perked up, cleaned up her coat, generally took over to became the
Imperious Alpha Cat here.
The only plane trips in her future are to the Vet - if necessary -
twelve Cessna miles away. She has become her Man's
"puppydog" - following her rescue, she hates to let him out
of her sight. She puts up with me - the "other" - also
known as "the hands that feed and brush me". Boo-grrs has a
way of asking for a treat from "her person" that almost
always works; she gets him to look her in the eye, yawns, and then
raises her left paw. It took her almost a year to train him, but now
he seems to have the hang of it.
She's never been an only cat; she shares her home with tolerance,
usually, to Mama's cat, a black kitty. But we know who's the senior
cat around here... Boo-grrs and her companion cat have a
