This
is Pepper. He is a four month old American Shorthair Tabby
kitten. We found him lost and starving in late August. We took him
home and our other two cats, Twinkie and Miss Minnie Kitten did not
like him at first. Three days after he came to live with us he got
very sick. He had a very high fever and he couldn't walk. We took him
to the vet. The vet warned us that he might not make it but
encouraged us not to put him to sleep before we give medicine a
chance. Pepper got a shot and ten days antibiotic medicine. He was
very dehydrated. We stayed with him in shifts, 24 hours a day and
forced Pedialyte (that electrolyte and glucose formula given to
babies and children with dehydration) and water into his mouth.
Pepper got much worse, he lost control of legs and couldn't make it
to the litter box. After six days of love and medicine Pepper got a
little bit better. Every day he got better! I am happy to say Pepper
is now very healthy, frisky and happy. Twinkie and Minnie love him
now. We love Pepper so much. He is playful and cute. He likes to be
hugged and cuddled. He likes to play with his toys: a ball with a
spinner in it and a little mouse made of fur. I know my family's love
saved this kitten. The vet said Pepper had a virus. He is negative
for FIV and FELV. We have been taking him in for his shots one at a
time. Every ten days instead of a series of all shots at once over nine
weeks. He is very healthy now, he weighs 7.5 pounds and has very big
feet! The vet said he will grow into a very big cat.
