Kitty
was found under a car in a parking lot in the San Fernando Valley.
When I first found him, I thought he was actually a gray and black cat.
He must have been no older than eight or nine weeks old. He was in bad
shape. His whiskers had been burned off with a lighter, his tail was
broken in two places and he was all skin and bones. I took him home,
with no doubt that he would not live through the night. He was so weak
and skinny that I had to keep nudging him awake to make sure he was
alive. I bought him some food, but he was too tired to eat. He slept for
hours. When I woke up in the morning, and checked the shoe box he was
sleeping in, he was gone! After some searching, I found that he had
eaten the food I left out, and had cleaned himself up, and he was
actually a white and black kitten. As I already had dogs, and I was
allergic to cats, my intentions were to get him healthy and then find a
home for him. Since I didn't want to get attached to a stray kitten that
I was only going to have for a few days, I didn't give him a name. Four
years later, we call him Kitty.
