Rudy
is an amazing kitty. At 24 hours old, she was rescued by a woman
named Melissa from the Wayward Kitty Ranch. She had no mom, a broken
leg, a fractured tail, and a slight fracture in her paw. She brought her
to the animal hospital in Austin and they had to cut off a bit of her
tail, and amputate her left back leg. She was severely under
weight. Melissa nurtured her back to health and then put her up for
adoption.
My husband and I saw Rudi and instantly fell in love with her. She
started kneading my husband and sucking on his T-shirt. We applied to
become her parents and a week later she was ours. She weighed just 1.4
pounds at ten weeks old. Since then she has been a highlight of our
lives. She is happy and healthy and loves to play with her new sisters,
Finnegan and Dugan.
She is really funny. When she hears my husband's car roll up she will
high-tail it from whatever room she is in to greet him at the door. She
loves to play with ice cubes on our tile floor and will scream for them
when we are in the kitchen. She plays with aluminum balls and milk tops
and cries until we rescue them from under a table or couch. She is very
vocal.
She is also very affectionate, moreso when she is tired. She watches my
husband take a shower and cries outside the glass shower door because
she cannot get in, but can see him. He never really had a pet before and
he is absolutely in love with her. He buys her toys every time we go to
the pet store, he has a baby picture of her on his desk as work, and he
always lets her have some of his ice cream straight off the spoon (after
he is done of course).
Considering how she started her life, she has made a complete recovery.
She likes her sisters (who are both nine years old) and she loves being
held and scratched (especially on the side she can't reach due to the
loss of the leg). She has loads of energy. She will jump very high after
a feather toy. We discovered one day that if we put down a towel or a
little mat, she will sit and watch TV with us and not bother my other
kitties for a while. So she now has her own basket to hang out in.
