Just
look at that angelic face! This is Milo, our pride and joy. Milo
didn't always look this good: When I moved into my first apartment by
my college in 1999, there were a bunch of homeless cats living in the
parking lot. Being a cat lover, I already had a cat and wasn't able to
take any more in. Most of the cats didn't like people, but they did
like the food I fed them nightly. There was one orange, fluffy little
guy, (Milo), who would constantly stare up at me with those angelic
eyes whenever I put food out. At night, he would "talk" with my cat,
Murphey, through the window. Whenever I would peek out to see "who"
Murphey was talking to, I would again be greeted with those same big,
angelic eyes of Milo, staring right back at me. He was scared of
people and wouldn't let me get close. But I couldn't resist. I
captured the scared Milo and brought him to my parents' house in
Weldon, which is more like a ranch and forest of trees. Although
scared at first, Milo turned into a wonderfully loving companion. He
is so precious, and extremely grateful for the new home he has. He
constantly runs in, runs out, runs in, and back out of the house,
numerous times during the day. I think he is still in a happy daze
about the fact that yes, he has a home! Also, even after all Milo has
been through, he is very protective of the other cats in the house. If
the dog comes near them, Milo jumps right in between and protects them
(the dog wouldn't hurt them, but Milo doesn't know that.) Milo is
still skittish of brooms, (he was probably beaten with one while he
was homeless and looking for food in someone's garbage), and he loves
to get chicken bones out of the trash, which we promptly take from
him. But we'll never leave him, and we love him to pieces. He truly is
our furry little angel!
