Here's
Boo Boo - he's a twelve-year old domestic shorthair Ginger Tabby! He
left his home down the road because they simply had too many cats! He
stared at us from the woods one summer as we sat on the porch. We took
pity on him and left him food at the edge of the woods. We moved the
food bowl closer and closer to the house and one day, he came in the
house, rounded the corner to the living room, plopped up on the sofa and
claimed his kingdom! He has endured other cats from the same group who
adopted us but never really accepted them and never would allow them
inside. Shortly after he adopted us, he fell ill to a terrible infection
that went to his bloodstream and we spent lots of time and money on
intensive care treatments. He knows we helped him and has shown
gratitude ten-fold. He was special then because he filled a void. We had
lost two eighteen-year-old Siamese cats who died of old age and for a while we
didn't have the energy to start a new feline family.
My Mom and Dad always said it's good luck for a cat to "take up" at your
house. He is special now because he seems to have a talent to stare at
you and look into your soul and "talk" you out of all your dilemmas. He
sleeps on top of my laser printer while I browse the Internet at night.
He's a very senior cat at twelve but never backs down an opportunity to
defend his own. His current nuisance is Libby the three-year-old grey and
white domestic shorthair who also adopted us as a kitten. She keeps
trying to engage him in play but he refuses and retreats to the
basement. On one occasion Libby brought Boo Boo a mouse, which we
figure was an attempt at acceptance. Boo Boo brings a lot of joy to my life.
