About Us
Pepe, the Cat of the Day
Name: Pepe
Age: Seven years old
Gender: Male
Kind: Maine Coon cat
Home: Lexington, North Carolina, USA

Pepe (we call him Pep for short) is a seventeen-year old Maine Coon cat who was rescued out of an abandoned apartment as a kitten by a true animal lover. Pep makes his home in the Barbecue Capital of the World, Lexington, North Carolina. Pep is a very serious cat, and his defining characteristic is his "browl", a loud meow which he does mostly in the middle of the night, in our hallway, at decibels equaling a loud human shout. Last year, at Christmas, we wrote lyrics to 12 Christmas carols about Pep's browling, and performed them to the amusement of our family (but not to Pep, who was most indignant). We're hoping for a record deal... hey, if the Jingle Cats people can do it ...

Pep is a Daddy's boy, and doesn't have much to do with his stepmama or younger sibling, Vivi, a black and white standard housecat. His other nicknames include The Pepster, Pepto-Bismol, Pepperoni Pizza, Peptic Ulcer, Pepcid AC, and Shut Up You Dang Cat (that one is usually used at 2:15 am). Pep loves his Auntie Maria, who rarely comes to see him, and so he wrote her a love letter.
