Precious
was born around Labor Day 2003. She was the friendliest of the
litter, born in the barn of a relative. Due to limited human contact she
was somewhat feral. Our relative caught her in a humane trap and brought
her to us. When she took her out of the trap, she held her in the kitty
litter for a few minutes. That was a stroke of genius! That was all
the training this smart little kitty had, but she has made no mistakes
in that regard. She hid for a week before we could catch her. Precious
continued to eat and drink and use the litter at night. We caught only
occasional glimpses of her during that week, but then she would quickly
disappear. Precious seemed to be afraid of our other cat (Possum, Cat
of the Day August 31, 2003.) We have finally caught her. In order to
"Socialize" her we are now limiting her to one room. This process is
moving along quickly. She in not able to hide and is now less difficult
to catch. Once in our lap she purrs like a motor boat and seems to
become hypnotized. I had many names picked out for her before she
arrived and was having difficulty choosing one. Then when I saw her I
kept saying "Oh, she is precious". I finally realized that Precious
should be her name.
