This
is Elvira. She looks all black in this picture but has a splash of
white on her chest and on her belly. I found her 18 years ago on the
balcony of my 19th floor apartment in Toronto. After asking my
neighbors to not let her out on the balcony time after time, they moved
out and left her behind. At the time I had two other cats and luckily
she got along with them fairly well. Since that time I've introduced
another four into my household and Elvira's patiently put up with them
and all of their antics over the years. Elvira is a sweet old girl who
loves to cuddle more now in her old age. She likes waking me up in the
morning by pouncing on me (she thinks this is great fun). She has a
favorite mouse that she hunts, then talks to continuously for five
minutes at a time before bringing her catch to me with great pride.
She's still very agile for her age and will jump on top of cupboards or
any other high surface. If I didn't stop her she'd even still jump on
top of the refrigerator. She likes to let me know she's hungry by
finding any paper lying around the house and shredding it to pieces. If
I'm a little late with dinner I can always tell it's time by the sound
of paper tearing in one of the rooms. Of course this is not so cute if
I forget to put important documents away. Elvira is a sweetheart and
is greatly loved.
