This
is Smokey - the cutest of our mummy-cat's last litter and now
weighing in at a whopping 19 pounds, just look at the size of those big
beautiful paws! We were feeding a feral cat a few years ago who came
to shelter in our garden sometimes. We were trying to trap her, but she
was so fast she kept getting out of the trap before the door came down.
Spring rolled round, a mean looking tomcat showed up and the inevitable
happened. Mummy-cat made a nest somewhere to have the kittens and came
to the house for regular meals. She brought us the kittens at nine
weeks and they were just gorgeous. Four adorable grey babies. We got
the trap back from Cats Protection and were lucky this time to catch mum
and all the kittens. We whisked them all off to our vet for check-ups
and injections, and in mum's case, the operation!
Smokey was his mum's favorite. From the beginning he was friendly and
outgoing and has the loudest purr I've ever heard. They all fell in
love with him at the vet's surgery. We had no problem getting homes for
all the kittens, but were not looking forward to parting with Smokey.
Fortunately my Mum was keen to have him and they just adore each other.
Smokey is a very lazy boy, which doesn't help his weight. His main
activity is his daily game of football - which he likes to play with my
mum at midnight!
