Elizabeth S.
(as in Suttlebutt) Peabody decided to move in with me when
she was eight months old. She came into the garage one night when I was
working there with a friend. Within a half an hour she was laying in our
arms. Within two days my old cat Chaucer had granted her permission to
move in (an unusual move on his part). I came home to find her
completely comfortable using the cat window and napping on my
bed. Because she was so sweet that first two weeks, and because no one
claimed her, my landlady gave in and said she could stay. As soon as
Elizabeth found that out her true nature as a prankster came out. She
just loves to be naughty and is constantly creating new games.
When Elizabeth is not admiring herself in the mirror, she is very
active, hence her nickname "Busy Lizzie." One of her most unusual habits
is her love of roses, which she pulls off the bushes and then brings
into the house. She won't do it when you're watching because she knows
it's naughty (but I caught her at it on video - ha!). Lizzie was a great
comfort to me when my 18-year-old cat Chaucer died. She continuously
helps me through stressful times by reminding me about the importance of
play and humor. She even can be affectionate, but only for a few
seconds, "I've got to go, I'm too busy!" I feel blessed that Elizabeth
chose to come share her life with me.
