Raven's
story is like Cinderella's.
A call came that there were several cats that needed to find new homes.
Initially, we were going to take another cat, when this little Persian
came up to Barry (who was sitting in a chair at the cats' home) and tapped
him on the knee several times. Right then, I knew this was the cat we
should take.
Raven's fur was terribly matted, she had ear mites, her claws had not
been trimmed in who knows how long, that several of them were embedded
in her paw pads. her teeth were terribly rotted, and she weighed under five
pounds. A few months later, Raven was found to have glomerulonephritis.
And to think, Raven was only four years old.
Raven is an inspiration to all who know her. She overcame the first
awful four years of her life. Two years ago, Raven became a Delta
Society Therapy cat. She visits the ladies at the Senior Residence which
is afflilated with the Central NJ Jewish Home for the Aged, and the
Sisters at the Carmelite Monastery. Raven loves to eat (despite having
no teeth!). She has her favorite toys, but Raven's favorite place is
on our laps or being held in our arms. Raven is sweet and loving. For a
Persian, she is very vocal!!
We are so happy that four years ago, Raven had the courage to come
forward and say "Please take me home!"
We just love her. There is one SIster at the Monastery (these are
cloistered nuns) who keeps threatening to "steal" Raven when she is on
the side where the nuns are!!!! She is so loved and adored by many.
On December 22, 2003, Raven threw a surprise Chanuakah party for the
women she visits. This is a photo of Raven and her Menorah. Raven is a
sweet loving cat. We can not imagine our lives without her. She gets
along very well with our nine other cats, too. She's our Jewish Princess!
