Jazz
(AKA: Jazzmatazz, Jazzercise, Smog the Dragon from the Hobbit) has
got the life of the house cat all figured out. The world is her oyster.
A most dignified lady, she rules the roost with a quiet countenance and
a personality which commands the utmost respect from her human
housemates and her adopted tabby sister, Duffy. Jazz was adopted from a
no-kill shelter in NYC when she was a little under two years old.
Starving and complete with a crooked tail, she immediately grabbed our
hearts upon our entering the shelter. She stared at us with her
beautiful gold eyes which seemed to say "I'll go home with you today,
please!!!"
She took it upon herself to become an immediate part of our family and
is an indispensable member of our existence. She has a beautiful voice
which she does not hesitate to use when she insists on singing from the
top of the stairs in the wee hours of the morning, when the bathtub
faucet is turned on, when she wants pets and if you happen to be eating
delicatessen sliced turkey. She also feasts on fresh peas, boston
lettuce, carrots, vanilla wafers, ginger snaps...Pounce treats are her
to-die for vice. A most purry beast, Jazz exercises her ability to purr
at anything and can sometimes be heard purring from another room. She
also has a distinct set of "feline phrases" that involve purring, short
barks, purrows (purrs and meows creatively mixed together) and huffs
through her nose which accurately convey what she is feeling at any
given moment. She will hold a conversation with you if you meow back at her!
Snuggling in the middle of her humans bed is a routine sight, but she
will share and in turn for pets, give you kisses on your lips and nose.
She was once told that she was a lucky cat as she has "All four paws in
the snow" (four white paws). But we are the lucky ones, to share our
home with Jazz.
