Elizabeth
came to live with me in the summer of 1988; the vet estimated
that she was six months old. She was a "dumpster kitty" in my apartment
complex, scrounging for food in the trash and covered with oil from
walking under cars. She didn't want to be touched, only fed and talked
to, which I did for several weeks as I gained her trust. One warm
evening I came home from work and left my front door wide open while I
got her food bowl, curiosity must have gotten the best of her because
she followed me inside and needless to say, I quickly shut the door and
that was that! Elizabeth easily adapted to being a pampered "house
kitty", she is quite elegant now and her paws are soft and pink from
many years spent padding around on carpeted floors in the safety of her
domain, which she rules with confidence. We have lived in California,
Germany and now reside in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Colorado, she
is very well traveled and has taken it all in stride. I am very thankful
for the companionship she has given me over the years.
