On
Halloween night in 1988 an expected knock came at the door. But
instead of hearing the usual Trick or Treat, the three kids held up a
white ball of fur and told me they had found this kitty in the bushes
and would I take care of him. It was the smallest pure white kitten with
the brightest blue eyes. What else would you name your new white kitten
on Halloween night - Casper (the ghost) of course. Casper was a mess,
fleas, worms and a real bad cold. After a vet got through with him he
was perfect and has been for many years.
When he was younger and living in California his favorite activity was
hanging around gopher holes and waiting for that perfect moment when he
could reach in and pull one out. He has always been very affectionate
and only in the past few years has he developed his voice. We now carry
on conversations a couple of times a day. As his years advance his
favorite activity turned to sleeping in front of the fireplace and on
the stairs where he blends in so well with the carpet that we have to be
careful not to step on him. Our current goal is to find Casper a baby
brother or sister that looks just like him.
