My
name is Homer, this picture was taken just after my mommy rescued me.
I am about four to five years old, and I have been living comfortably in a nice
warm house now for about a year and a half. I must say I've put on a few
pounds since then. My mommy rescued me from Earle Naval Weapons Station
in Colts Neck, New Jersey. You see, someone was moving out to a new duty
station and threw me out with the trash. They didn't care enough about
me to get me neutered and vaccinated, and take me along. My mommy was
feeding me outside for about a year, and she wanted desperately to take
me in but daddy said we had enough cats. But one evening, I showed up to
her house with a really bad open wound on my foot, (it was probably from
that fight I had been in, (there were dozens) my heel was split wide
open and you could see my tendons). She took me in, even though she
already had four other cats. My new mommy took me to the vet and got me
neutered and vaccinated and took care of my very painful sore foot for
the next three months.
My mommy was seven months pregnant when she took me into her nice comfy home
so daddy had yet one more litter box to scoop. Unfortunately we found
out I have FIV, so I live a very happy solitary life away from the
"others." I live in her bedroom, and in nice weather I go outside for a
few hours in the enclosed yard to bask in the sun and gaze at the birds.
The other cats don't care for me, and I don't care for them either. I
made the long trip with them to my new home back to where my mommy grew
up, and I love it here. I get to sleep on there bed and have lots of
love and affection. It sure beats running for your life on the streets,
getting beat up, and overpopulating the neighborhood. My mommy says I
have very beautiful green eyes, and a heart of gold, God only knows why
I ended up on the street. I love to play with balls, and catnip, and my
very favorite toy is string.
