I
met my dear England while working at a Humane Society in Suburban
Washington. Working at a shelter, I had my choice of kitties but it was
England's stunning lime green eyes that got my attention among all of
the other residents. I quickly learned that England had recently had
his tail amputated. When he came to the shelter his tail was necrotic
(rotting off essentially!), so for his health it was removed and he was
left with a shaved "stub" with stitches. England Merlot (his middle name
because he is red and "whines" a lot :) also was only four pounds with
calloused feet when he was rescued but he is very healthy now. He was
bringing me joy for the past eight years. He is quite a talker, loves to
give massages and has turned many a "non-cat person" into a cat lover.
He is a great big brother to Buster, also an orange tabby, and loves plants.
