Our
cat Moppy is a very happy cat. As you can see in the photo, he
enjoys a good laugh! We adopted him a year ago when he was about six
months old, or rather he adopted us. We where on vacation with my son
and daughter-in-law and the grand children in the south of Spain when
Moppy wandered into the garden and made himself at home. He was
obviously used to human company, but very hungry so we guess he had
gotten lost. None of the neighbors knew him, however, and the local vets
had no reports of a lost cat that fitted his description, so when the
vacations were over we took him back to our home in Madrid Province. He
appears to be a siamese cross breed (though I am no expert on cats). How
did he get his name? Well my wife Paloma was cleaning the kitchen floor
and the cat was chasing the mop, so my five-year-old grandson said that we
should call him Moppy. The name stuck.
He is a very affectionate cat and talks to us a lot. He is also very
active and often gets into mischief, he is a very skillful tree-climber,
but not very good at getting down again. Lucky I've got a long ladder!!
It's also lucky that we live in a quiet rural area so he can burn off a
lot of energy out of doors. He is only a small cat but has got a big,
big character. He has changed our lives over the last year and we really
couldn't be without him now.
