Rusty
is a very special cat. He is a purebred Maine Coon - the "friendly
breed". We got him from a breeder when he was a kitten. He is an indoor
cat only. He weighs 25 pounds but Rusty is just very tall and big, not
overweight. Whenever a person sees Rusty for the first time, they always
say, "That's a big cat". He has a sweet and lovable personality and has
never met anyone he did not like.
Rusty goes up to perfect strangers that come in our home and greets them
by standing up on his hind legs so they will pet him on the head. He is
so tall that when he stands up on his hind legs, his front feet come up
to a person's waist. Rusty loves to sleep on his back with his four legs
straight up in the air which makes him look even bigger when he is
spread out.
In the photo, Rusty is cuddled up next to his stuffed cat friend, Tiger.
The stuffed toy cat looks just like Rusty, Rusty thinks, so it is just
another buddy Cat as far as Rusty is concerned. The toy roars and growls
and its eyes light up when the paw is pressed and you would think it
would scare most cats away, but Rusty does not mind at all and just
likes to stay close to his friend, Tiger.
Sometimes, because Rusty is so big and being a lap cat, we can hardly
breathe when he stretches out from our laps to our head, but
we appreciate his "gentle giant" nature and welcome him every time. No
matter how stressful a day is, Rusty is always there wanting his petting
and lap time and makes us forget our cares.
Rusty is very much a lap cat, a wonderful companion, and is a family
member to us. He is our son. He loves us and we love Rusty very much!
