Abby
was rescued last February. She was begging for food and attention
outside my husband's office window. She was very skinny, dirty and
weak. He called me and told me that no one at work wanted and he wanted
to know if he should bring her home. Of course I said yes! He brought
her home on a Friday afternoon. I raced her off to my vet when he
arrived. She was so hungry and very dirty. She was snap tested and
given some food, while we waited. She was trying to eat everything in
site, but we could not let her overeat.
She turned out negative on all the tests. I brought her home and over
the weekend, even though she was eating (we had her isolated in our
guest bedroom) fine, she was getting weaker and weaker. Monday morning
came around and she could not even hold her head up and she had no
energy. Took her back to vet, and he ran blood tests, and said she was
dying. Her kidneys were 95% shut down, from malnutrition. I told my
vet to "save her." She stayed in the hospital for four days and three
nights, getting vitamins and other meds pumped through her IV.
Eventually, after another blood test, she came back to life. My vet
works miracles! She almost died and if my husband would not have
rescued her, she would not be here today. She is now a beautiful white
kitty, very playful and "mouthy." She always wants attention and like
to beat up out thirteen-year-old Senior cat. They never hurt each other, but
Abby likes to push her buttons.
She loved to sleep on my pillow and follow me around every morning
before work, and when I get home. I am grateful we could save her.
