Hello,
I am Jacob Marley. My two brothers and I were found as very
small kittens at a construction site, the workers figured our mother had
been killed. They brought us to a veterinarian. His receptionist took
care of us until we were at about five weeks. She had named us five,
six, and seven because that was the number of toes we each had on our
front paws. She kept seven but convinced my Mom to take me (six) and my
brother (five) home to try out how being a guardian of cats differed
from dogs. That was ten years ago - so obviously Mom enjoys being our
guardian. She enjoys it so much she now has three more cats besides my
brother and me.
I am the talker in the house. When it is breakfast or supper time I
will let Mom know. When Mom is having good food for her meal I will let
her know how good it is to share. Mom hates to cook but her sister
loves it. So when she comes over I like to help her and tell her how
she is doing; I also like to taste things along the way sometimes when
she is not looking I sneak a bite just to be sure it still tastes good.
I think she appreciates my help because she just keeps saying "I just
love cooking at this house; I just love cooking at this house."
A couple of years ago I started to lose weight. Mom took me in to the
vet and eventually it was discovered I had kidney and liver issues. So
I am on a special kidney diet and I get fluids twice a week. I
understand this might increase as my condition worsens - well, not if I
have anything to say about it - I hate having it done twice a week!
When I was getting the tests done everyone noticed how much I talked.
They also noticed if they kissed my head I would be quiet. They told
Mom they had to kiss my head hard - I just like to really feel those
kisses! The harder the kiss the louder my motor purrs. Mom has kissed
my head since I was a tiny kitten and I find it very soothing.
Well, I have to go; my Mom is home from work and I must tell her about
my day!
