I
was volunteering at the animal shelter when I first saw Butter. I had
to take him out of his cage for the photographer to take his picture,
and the minute I had him in my arms he was purring loudly. I fell in
love with him. Even though I wasn't looking to adopt another kitty, I
just had to have him. The next day I filled out the papers and he came
home with me.
I had the hardest time with naming him. I had all these "tough" names
picked out such a Shadow, Nazo, Tango, etc. They never stuck. I had been
calling him Butter until I thought of something, which I never did. So,
Butter it is!
He has such a wonderful personality. He loves affection, and almost
always purrs loudly whenever you're around him. He will meow until he
gets affection if you're not giving him enough! Nothing seems to bother
him either. When I took him home for the first time he wasn't at all
concerned with my dogs and cat. He just fit right in.
About a year after adopting him he got a urinary track blockage. He had
to spend a day or two at the vets to be sure he was ok. The vets also
discovered he has a heart problem which he will likely need medication
someday for. Everyone was telling me what a joy he was. Even under those
conditions he was still his happy, affectionate/purring self.
Butter is such a wonderful cat. I brings so much happiness to my life,
and I have no idea what I'd do without him!
