After
we lost our very, very beloved cat Tanner, we started looking
around and found a wonderful organization, Forgotten Ones Cat Rescue and
Adoption in Richmond Hill, Ontario. We adopted two kitties, but sadly the
female was very unhappy in our noisy, active household and developed
some severe behavior problems. We had to take her back to the shelter
and they recommended Dodger instead.
Dodger had been with them longer than almost any other cat and was one
of their favorites. He is quite shy at first and is also very large (20
pounds!) so that probably turned people off.
We love him so much! He bonded right away with our cat Monty and they
love to lie together and groom one another. He also is like a parent to
our newest kitty family member, ten month old Mel.
Dodger has many Maine Coon attributes. His meow is quite delicate and
people are surprised to hear that high pitched sound coming from such a
large boy. He loves to play with balls (only pompoms and only from a
certain store - no homemade ones!) and when in the mood will fetch them
back. He likes to cry while he carries his balls around in his mouth.
He loves to watch the birds and squirrels out of the window and we
recently bought a DVD made for cats and he and Mel are quite addicted to
watching it!
The other cats are escape artists, and when they get out of the house he
worries and frets about them. Only when they're all rounded up and
safely in the house will he settle down for his nap.
His face is so beautiful - his eyes look like they're rimmed with black
eyeliner and his lips are black. We joke with people that he eats black
licorice!
Dodger has the best disposition ever. All other cats love him and want
to be his buddy. He is very much loved and we're so happy he's only two
so we can enjoy many happy years with him!
