I
adopted Kirby March 27, 2000, just three days after my
seventeen year old female kitty died (as a result of old age and an illness),
Kimba, and after realizing I've never been without a pet. I missed (and
still miss) Kimba dearly but was an absolute nervous wreck when I went to
meet Kirby (known then as Rusty). His owner said "he's shy, but loving,
let him come to you." All I said was "hi, pretty boy." He ran to me and
rubbed on me; we've been together ever since. I'm his fourth owner and
can confidently say I'm his last.
Every day he makes me laugh either by some of his crazy sounds or his
playfulness. Initially, my Vet reminded me that we both needed to adjust
to each other. Kirby did so way before I. I cried daily - for Kimba and
for Kirby and hoped I could love him, and he could love me. The tears
didn't last long. He is loving, affectionate, opinionated, and he loves
to eat and to play! A friend watched him recently while I spent a week at
the beach. She called and said "he's not mad, he doesn't even miss you."
Well, when I returned home, he wouldn't eat unless I stayed in the
kitchen with him.
We now love each other. I asked Kimba in a prayer if she was o.k. with
it. I could swear she was next to me by my pillow basically saying it is o.k.
In this photo, check out his long bushy tail between the windows!
