My
husband and I rescued Bibit from a local animal league. We
originally named her Callie as a nod to her being a calico but she was
just a little thing of about six weeks old and was teeny tiny, so she soon
became "Bibit" because she is such a little bug. She shares our home
with three feline brothers, but she is the princess.
Bibit has many idiosyncracies that make us laugh on a daily basis. For
instance, she chases her tail on the edge of the tub whenever it is time
to eat. She likes to splash her water bowls and often moves them around
the floor. She drowns her toys. She'll sleep on everything and
anything but is especially fond of lumpy book bags, computer bags and
the top of the refrigerator. She'll play fetch with a crinkle ball.
She comes running when ever she hears the shower start up because she
likes to be in the bathroom when it is steamy. She likes to sleep in
the sink but only on a towel. She stretches all the time often reaching
up while standing against the wall (kitty yoga).
But by far the oddest of her habits is something we call "sucky tail".
When I go to bed she comes to bed with me, curls up in a ball in the
crook of my neck and shoulder and then purring up a storm, she'll suck
her tail. She only does it with me, she doesn't do it with my husband,
even if I'm away. This is something that she has done since she was
about three months old and I've tried to break her of the habit, but there
was no stopping her and now it has become a soothing bed time ritual for
both of us.
So if you ask me why she's special, I'll just say "Because she's Bibit."
