This
is Brandy. We found each other at a local Pet Smart where she was
being shown by the Humane Society. It was love at first sight. I knew
she was the one when my husband was petting her and she dropped down and
showed him her belly. I have never seen a cat do that. Despite people
telling me I would never be able to bond with an adult cat, we bonded
very quickly. She is sweet, trusting and very eager to please. She
still will only show her belly to my husband!
She has also bonded with the scratching post she is sitting on in this
picture. Imagine our surprise when she went right up to it and started
scratching it immediately after my husband gave it to her (yes, he made
it for her). We figured she had one in her last home - wherever that
was. She was found as a stray on the streets of St. Albans. Someone
was kind enough to call the local humane society and she was picked up,
neutered and put up for adoption. Lucky me! She doesn't even scratch the
furniture.
She is such a good cat and my husband will say it is because I didn't
spoil her as a kitten. She loves little toys. She bats them around all
over the house. She will come to me meowing away with a toy in her
mouth and drop it at my feet. I then will pet her and praise her
superior hunting skills. I named her Brandy like the liquor - a warm,
comfort on a chilly Vermont day!
