It
took a while, but we finally decided to get some kitties to fill the
emptiness in our house after my sweet dwarf house rabbit Pete passed
away. Calie was born on my Husband's birthday. We often call Calie
'Weasel' instead because she is so long and slim, and also because her
fur is as soft as a mink. She has one orange mitt and crazy polka dot
toes that I love! We adopted Calie's sister Harlee at the same time.
We are so happy our home can be the place where these girls will have
each other for company always. They make us laugh everyday with their
antics. They take turns stalking and chasing each other, and sometimes
Calie will hiss. It's never serious, though. These sisters are
strictly indoor cats, but they do get supervised visits to the back yard.
Calie's favorite things to do are sitting at the window watching birds,
and catching bugs. She is quite independent, but she does like to be
petted on the head - and if I am not doing it enough she lets me know by
nudging my hand with her nose! She's an excellent jumper, so much so
that we put her food dish on top of the washing machine. This also
keeps her greedy sister from getting all the food! Calie does a lot of
stretching too - I call it her Yoga. She's especially good at the cat
pose, of course! Calie doesn't say a lot, except when she thinks it's
time for another back yard visit. She doesn't like riding in the car at
all, and she's a scaredy-cat when we have rainstorms with thunder and
lightning. She cuddles up with me at night with the quietest purr and
then, when she sees I have fallen asleep, she takes off with Harlee for
her nighttime adventures. She is a pleasure to have around, and I think
she knows she is very loved!
