I
had a Cornish Rex cat who had passed on, and I was going to buy a new
cat. A friend said "There are cats that need homes! I will find you a
Cornish Rex that is a rescue!" And she did.
When I went to pick up Ranger from the woman who had him the first thing
he did was jump into my lap and roll over for a tummy rub - it was love at
first sight. That was more than eleven years ago and Ranger is still as
cuddly and social as ever. He loves everybody. When people come to the
house he jumps into their laps and asks to be petted. He also enjoys
riding on my shoulders while I walk around the house and he likes climb
into high places, which explains why he managed to jump into kitchen
cabinet. He also likes looking out the window and sometimes he gets to
run around in the back yard.
After Ranger had lived with me for several years he began having problems
with his teeth. The doctor said he had plasmacytic stomatitis, which
basically means that his gums were infected. The doctor said that he was
reacting to the bacteria on the tooth enamel. The doctor removed some of
Ranger's teeth, but then the other teeth became infected so eventually we
had to have all of his teeth removed. He had pain medication and was very
unhappy for a few days but he got better and now he eats pelleted food as
well as soft food and is very happy and healthy. He is on my lap right now!
