Please
meet Ms. Spooky Louise, the loveliest cat in town. Spooky invited
herself into my life about six years ago when her former owners abandoned
her outdoors. At the time she had been declawed and was not spayed, so
she was leading a dangerous life on the streets. When she began banging
on my bedroom window each evening, I tried hard to resist but eventually
I had to break down and give her some food. You can guess the rest of
the story: I suddenly became the owner of (or should I say servant to) a cat!
Because she is a rescue kitty, I do not know her exact age or birthdate,
but we celebrate each year on Halloween. This is due to her orange,
black and white coloring as well as her 'spooky' attitude.
In the picture, Spooky is modelling her red harness and leash; we
recently moved to a condo where cats are not allowed to roam free
outdoors. Now she is the talk of the neighborhood and gets compliments
from the other residents as we stroll by. Training a cat to use a leash
is a very interesting experience and involves a lot of standing around
versus actual exercise (except when a stranger walks by and then it is
like having a monkey on the end of a string).
I was always a dog person, or so I thought, until Spooky moved in. She
is the best baby ever!
