Name: Kymball
Age: Deceased, Fourteen years old
Gender: Female
Kind: Calico, Siamese mix
Home: Richland, Washington, USA

Kymball is special because she was so loving. She was the kind of cat that everyone liked. She was very friendly and yet just independent enough that she was perfect.

Kymball was my cat for the past twelve years. She was at least fourteen years old. She was a stray that I took home from school. She showed up every morning wanting attention. Thursday morning I got permission from my landlord to take her home, so I put her in my classroom, and made a vet appointment that afternoon for her shots, spay, and check-up. That afternoon when one of my classes came in the room, one of my students, Allison, who was afraid of cats, screamed at her, which scared her out of the classroom. My students looked and looked for her... she was gone. I thought that it would really be ok as she was at school every morning so she would be there again tomorrow. Friday morning... nothing. Now this cat, whom had been with me all of about three hours... I missed terribly! I canceled the vet appointment, and moped. Early Saturday morning I got a phone call from the janitor telling me that the cat was back and that she locked her in my classroom. So I remade the vet appointment for that afternoon and went down to my classroom around eleven to pick her up to take her some food and to the vet. I had two of my students with me. When we were taking her to the car, she jumped out of Garrett's (my student) arms and took off. I was not about to lose her again! We chased her down and it took us about 45 minutes to catch her, climbing fences and getting in and out of neighbors' yards!!!!! Finally, she was safe and secure and brought home.

Now she needed a name... she was a stray and she was starving. She ate anything and everything and ate is as fast as she could, but was still sleek and trim. She reminded me of the character in Kindergarten Cop... Phoebe O'Hara (who ate also everything and was tiny!!!)... but I didn't like either name. But her partner John Kimble (played by Arnold Schwarzenegger) had a name I liked. So I played with the spelling and Kymball it was.

She was a very affectionate cat, and loved everyone. She was very persistent in getting her way. She would groom the dogs and Keaton (my other cat). When Baerring (my dog) was a puppy she used to sleep on top of him. She was very jealous of my boyfriend. When he was over, we would watch a movie either on the bed or on the couch and she had to be between us. She was not content to be on either lap, but had to be in the middle of us. We used to joke as there was always a "Kymball" between us. I will miss her cuddling with me at night as she most always slept at my head on my shoulder. It was a wonderful twelve years and I miss her very much.
