Callie
is my "baby." I got her from a co-worker whose cat had kittens.
My cat, Max, passed away in May of 2005. I adopted Callie in November of
2005. (She was born on September 9, 2005.) She was shy at first, but now
rules the roost. She waits at the door when I come home from work. She
has a perch and a bed on the floor next to my bed that she sleeps in. If
she wants to play, she will do anything to get my attention. She knows
when I'm getting her a bowl of canned food because she follows me into
the kitchen. When she was just learning to get up onto the table, she
would steal food off your plate if you weren't paying attention. She can
be a bit of a 'monster' at times, especially when she runs through the
house for no reason, but she's so sweet and cute you can't stay mad at
her. She shows the dog, Bojangles (a ten year old Yorkie) who's boss. She
has also gotten nose-to-nose...err beak with our bird. Monty is a sulphur
crested Cockatoo. Callie climbed up onto the apron of his cage and was
greeted by Monty. (We were careful to make sure neither of them did
anything to each other) We recently got a red eared slider (turtle).
Callie just stared at him because she never saw a turtle before so she
didn't know what to think.
Callie seems to know when I'm down. She is more affectionate like she
knows. She misses me when I'm gone too long. She is helping me to stay
sane (as much as I can be) and sober (I'm a little over seven months). I
am thankful for her as well as everyone else in my life.
