Penguin
moved himself in after months of increasingly persistent
begging. We have no idea of his actual age as he was long full-grown
and battle-scarred when he started appearing in the neighborhood. He was
really skittish at first and cowered at the slightest movement toward
him, but over time finally allowed a little scratching about the ears.
Then, when he developed a nasty looking skin condition, my boyfriend was
finally able to catch him and got him to the vet, where he got fixed in
more ways than one. Penguin stayed indoors to recover from his
procedures and then he decided that he was staying!
He did have to learn how to play, as he had no idea of the concept for
quite some time. He has also become an expert at relaxing utterly when
asleep, and even if one of his 'sisters' ambushes him in mid-snore, he
can go right back to snoozing after an indignant squawk or two. He has
learned so much in 'Kat Kollege' and is now in graduate school where he
has just discovered the joys of camping out in blanket tents made by
human knees. His main skills are sleeping, starting up one-way
conversations at 2 a.m., and looking very handsome. We love him!
