Mourning
the sudden loss of our thirteen year-old cat, we started visiting
the kitties at the SPCA, with the intention of adopting one when we were
ready.
We were heading to the entrance one day and we noticed a sign in what
appeared to be an empty office space. Turns out it was an unused area and
the sign was all about a 'saucy kitty' who was living in there because she
didn't get along with the other cats or life in a cage. Curled up on top
of a table was Ella, a torti, with an adorable little white spot on her
upper lip... as though she hadn't licked up that last drop of cream.
We found out she had been there five months and had come a long way from
the cat she was when she first got there. We found her to be 'saucy' but
bright and sweet and very endearing. We visited her several times, made
our decision and staff was so excited when we said we wanted to take her
home.
There was a bit of an adjustment period (no, Ella, the cat bed is not your
potty!) but she quickly found her niche.
Every morning she will wake my husband up by patting him on the face (that
took a bit of getting used to!) and she occasionally enjoys a spot of
blueberry yogurt, blueberries and all.
Like any loving, proud cat care-taker, I could go on and on! She's
certainly a part of us now.
Having taken her in after losing our other sweetheart, it was hard to just
let go and love her right away but I can't see us ever not having a fuzzy
friend to come home to. They give you so much and ask for so little.
Thank you, Ella!
