I
would like to share my cat Sidney with all of you. Sidney passed away
on December 3, 2007. He was a great friend and a wonderful companion to
me. He was a true blessing to my family!
Sidney had a rare disease of the digestive system that eventually led to
his passing - he was only one and a half years old. I got him as a small
kitten when he was only six weeks old. My aunt found him underneath a
trailer near her mother's rural home and brought him to me because I had
been telling her that I really wanted a kitten to love. We bonded
instantly and were friends from the moment we met. He would sit with me
while I read or work on the computer. He slept with me in bed every
night. He followed me around the house everywhere I went. When he was
really small, he would even sit in the pocket of my house robe and
"ride" while I went around the house doing chores.
I would even take him to the hospital parking lot and nursing home so
that he could cheer up my Grandmother. My grandmother had a brain tumor
and lost her ability to speak, but whenever we would take her outside
for a stroll and she would see Sidney, she would get the biggest smile
and was able to get out a laugh and an "awww" because Sidney would
always make the cutest expressions for her.
Ever since Sidney's untimely passing, I have missed him more than
anything in the world. He was so special to me and to my grandmother who
passed away as well. I like to think that they are together watching
over me.
