About Us
Tulip, the Cat of the Day
Name: Tulip
Age: One year old
Gender: Female
Kind: Abyssinian
Home: Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA

Here's our one year old Red Abyssinian. I walked up on Tulip cleaning one day and just had to snap a picture. She is sitting there so cute! Tulip is a ball of fun. She is very gentle, has incredibly soft fur, she loves to sit in the sun where ever she may find the slightest ray.

She recently had to have a shot of cortisone for allergies. Unfortunately, this steroid really threw her for a loop. It stopped the itching and allergic reactions, but sadly changed her personality. She doesn't purr anymore, she doesn't snuggle, she just lays around and watches off in the distance. She even stopped playing with her big brother - which she used to love doing.

My advice is to be very careful with steroids and your sweet ones. They can be dangerous for humans, we all know that. But they can be dangerous for our pets as well. Be careful, weigh carefully the pros vs. the cons. My vet says in time Tulip will "come back around," but I'm wondering how long that will be.

Otherwise, we still love her a bunch and give her a lot of attention. Who could resist this special little Abyssinian, Tulip.

Tulip lives with a Seal Point Siamese kitten Anastasia Beaverhausen, our "big boy" Merlin the Magical Moose who is a kitten as well, and our old gal Pandora who just turned fourteen today.
