Lexi, the Cat of the Day
Name: Lexi
Age: Three and a half months old
Gender: Female
Kind: Sphynx
Home: Mid-Missouri, USA

This is our beautiful Sphynx kitten Lexi. We lost our gorgeous black Sphynx male Tucker on March third at the age of twenty months. We found out in January that Tucker was suffering from heart disease. After six weeks of medications, doctors visits and a hospital stay Tucker suffered another stroke. Our family was absolutely devastated. We also have Tucker's mom, Jasmine, who we adopted upon her retirement in February 2007.

Even before learning of Tucker's illness I was in hopes of adding another Sphynx to our family. They are absolutely wonderful cats. After losing Tucker we were given the opportunity to get another kitten. When choosing Lexi, I wasn't looking to replace Tucker. I would never attempt to replace him and it couldn't be done. Tucker was one-of-a-kind and made us fall in love with Sphynx. Tucker was and Jasmine is black with stunning golden eyes. Lexi being white with captivating blue eyes is completely the opposite.

Lexi a.k.a. "Zippy" is a little firecracker! She is already spoiled rotten. In this photo she was in need of a face wash, but the photo op was just too good to pass up. She decided she wanted to sun herself a little and hopped in the window sill. With the bare white skin she isn't allowed to sit there for long, but is okay for a few minutes.

When Lexi came home to us she immediately fit right in. I was concerned about how Jasmine would react and was pleasantly surprised. Jasmine took right to her and began to treat her as if she was her own kitten. It was so cute to watch. Lexi likes to play with Jazzy and is fine until she messes with Jazzy's tail.

Lexi loves to play! She plays with anything she can find. Lexi and Jasmine sleep with my husband and me every night. My husband has never been a cat person and still doesn't care for a "typical cat" but he loves our Sphnyx. Lexi had him wrapped around her paw immediately. Sphynx have a unique personality and a person need only spend a little time around one to become hooked. Our family will always include them. Losing Tucker was unbearable and I hope both Lexi and Jasmine will live long lives.
