Tucky
(short for Nantucket) came to me in 2002 shortly before I was getting
ready to move out of my apartment complex and into a rented house. I had grown
up with two cats but because of where I was currently living I couldn't have
pets. A neighbor knew I was moving and how much I loved cats and told me about
her pet kitten who she had given away in 2000 when she became pregnant. Tucky
was the runt of a litter of five and quite the fluff ball from what I saw from
his photograph.
As it turned out, Tucky ended up in three of her friends homes in two years
for one reason or another. In the last house, Tucky was living with three
kids, two dogs and two other cats which wasn't good for him. As soon as I saw him,
I knew he was coming home with me and my home was going to be his last one.
As you'll see Tucky is a beautiful Persian with the most amazingly soft fur
and has the most loving, playful personality. Never mind all the cat toys he
has, he loves bottle caps and q-tips and will beg for one. I had to stop
putting q-tips in my bathroom wastebasket because he'd fish them out. His
trademark is to sit with his paws crossed like a sphinx and he loves to do
"touchdowns" where he rolls over and puts his paws in the air. He climbs on my
chest in the morning to lay down and nuzzle my face or paw kneed me. He loves
to wrap his paws around my neck to give me kitty hugs and his latest trick has
been to jiggle the toilet handle to try to flush it. Hes greets me at the door
with a hearty meow and will meow and follow me around until I pick him up.
He's quite the talker in fact and if I could speak "meow" I imagine we'd have
quite the conversation.
Tucky loves to sit in the window and watch the birds, and run through the
house at a high rate of speed. He is good natured when I bathe him and clip
his nails. Recently he had to make a trip to the vet and he was so relaxed and
just laid on the table and looked out the window while the vet examined him.
Tucky and I have been through some good times and bad times and I couldn't ask
for a better pet than him.
