This
is Kee Kat, a.k.a. Deeley Bopper. We met Kee Kat four years ago while
visiting a house we were interested in buying. We liked the house very
much, thought the cat who lived there was enchanting, and asked if we
could keep the cat (her name was not Kee Kat at that time) when we bought
the house. The owners kindly agreed.
Kee Kat has shown herself to be brilliant, loving and beautiful. She is
especially fond of the human she regards as her father. She waits for his
return home from work, runs to the door when she hears his car, then sits
in front of him as he rubs her lovely fur and feeds her treats.
Kee Kat likes to sit at the top of the spiral staircase, looking down at
us, and sleeping on one of the steps when she chooses. She is braver than
many of the humans who drop by, for the steps are quite high. After all,
she owned the house first!
Kee Kat enjoys the games most cats play, such as chasing balls and
following strings. She signals her readiness to play by lying on her back
and holding her front paws in the manner of an otter eating dinner. Her
favorite activity is to find a bright, overhead light (or encourage a
person to provide one) and play with the shadows cast by hands, pens,
remote controls or anything else. She much prefers to play with the
shadows on the floor than the objects themselves. She will leap about,
attacking the shadows as they move about the floor. It is especially
charming to see her play with the shadows of the tips of her ears.
I am so glad and eternally grateful that Kee Kat agreed to our purchase of
her house, and that she decided to join our family.
