Hi,
we would like to nominate our beloved cat, Roger. He is the finest animal
we've ever owned - dog or cat. They have all been loved, but he has always
been the most special. His full name is Roger Thornhill (he's named after Cary
Grant's character in North by Northwest - he's suave with a gray suit).
Roger has been our guy since July 3, 2000. He's more than a companion - he's
simply a fine example of how living beings should live: they should choose to
be present, do what they must do, and be in love with those with whom you are
closest. He is not shy about telling you about himself (every time he changes
his altitude he has to meow about it), and while he is fond of people, he has
a bond with us that is stronger than everything else. It is that bond that
motivates him... more than food, play, sleeping. It's unique in our experience
and Roger has won our hearts forever. A big, strong fellow with large
features, he becomes an instant favorite with everyone who sees him.
He's a loper in the yard, running after us, the dog, and anything else that
needs to be tackled. He likes to watch airplanes as they go overhead. And he
patrols the house and outdoors with a persistence that suggests he knows he
must "take care" of us.
