Sammi,
possibly a Siamese/Himalayan/Munchkin mix, is my best friend.
She was rescued by a neighbor about a year before I met her. As the
neighbor rescues animals, he has each spayed/neutered, then feeds,
waters and keeps an eye on them. But Sammi wanted a closer friend, so
she started hanging out at my house when she saw me out gardening.
Before I knew it, she had chirupped her way into my heart. She is now a
full-time pet who gets to go outside whenever it's warm enough. Memphis
is a very small town (about 2,300) and everyone looks out for everyone
else, and everyone else's pets, too. So there's not much to worry about
when she goes out.
Sammi is very talkative and has clear words for "open the door," "my
food bowl is empty" and "please play with me!" And she will converse
with you for a long time before getting bored with it. She really loves
to be brushed each evening while we're watching tv and will duck her
head under the brush to get me started. She has her own toy box, her
own pillow on the bed, and her favorite spots to hide and nap. She
loves to run up and down the stairs every night just when it's time to
settle down for bed. She wakes me up in the morning with the lightest
possible touch of her claws on my arm. She is not a big kisser.
Sammi has the fluffiest, softest fur imaginable and it's nice to have
her near me. I hope she will be there for many years to come.
