"Juwanee"
which means "born on a Tuesday" in African. Yes, he was born
on a Tuesday. He is a Bengal (he came from a breeder in Illinois) and has
rosettes as well as many spots on his belly.
Juwanee is a really friendly guy. He never meets a stranger.
Visitors love meeting him because he is a "peoples cat." Juwanee is always
up for playing "fetch." When you throw his toy he runs and gets it, brings
it back, and drops it in front of you. He will do this over and over
again! When we first brought him into our home he was a little homesick so
we introduced him to our son's Elmo doll (the Sesame Street character). He
now sleeps cuddled up next to Elmo.
Juwanee spends much of the day "talking." He loves to talk. One of his
favorite passtimes is to sit on the piano bench and watch the player
piano keys move with the music. He is so amused by that! At times he
is a little mischevious especially when he finds our Weimaraner lying on
the floor minding his own business, relaxing and Juwanee will creep up
behind Max and start biting on his tail and heels of his feet! Max is
such a good sport, he just ignores it. I guess he figures Juwanee will
grow out of this child-like behavior someday!
He is eleven months old now and has become quite affectionate, but also very
independent at times! From six months old he has played fetch. He was
never taught, he just knew how to play. We have a second story balcony
and now his daily routine is for us to throw his toy up on to the
balcony and he runs up the stairs and brings the toy back down to us on
the first floor. As soon as we say "where's your toy", he takes off
running up the stairs and waits for us to throw his toy up and over the
railing of the balcony! He is so smart. The whole time this game is
going on he is "talking." He loves to play fetch.
He and our fourteen-year-old (80 pound) dog Max have become really good
friends. They now sleep together on our dog's bed. Juwanee loves to clean
Max's ears and Max does not mind at all.
