This
is Whitey, A.K.A. Shiro. Whitey sadly passed away in June following
surgery for a torn ligament, it was a very unexpected and sad departure.
Whitey came to live with us as a kitten all the way from White City, Oregon,
thirteen years ago. Little did we know how much work she would be and all
the joy she would bring us. As a Persian, she required a lot of our
attention, things like regular brushing, lion cuts, and shampoo baths.
She used to enjoy going around the neighborhood. All the neighbors knew her
by name and took good care of her. She was very good friends with Chibi, our
calico shorthair.
Whitey was the boss around the house, she would tell us when it was time to
let her out on the deck, when it was time to eat, and when it was time to go
to bed. She liked to sleep on my bed, always on the same spot. Every night
she would make me follow her to my bed and jump on it to tell me it was time
to go to sleep. The night before she passed away I followed her to my bed,
but since I had other things to do before sleep, I let her go to bed by
herself. Looking back, I wish I had spent more time with her that night.
