My
husband became very ill, and he adored cats... soooo my brother-in-law and
I decided to get him a companion (we had only a dog at the time) while he was
home for a few months. Who knew he would truly turn out to be my husbands best
buddy. Our cat was originally named "Bones." When my brother-in-law and I went
to get him at a family's home that had two cats give birth at once, his tail was
broken in three places and he fit in one hand. All the other kittens were
snuggled in their bed, fat and happy, while this little runt was all over
checking out the action. We decided to take him home with us, he looked so
pitiful.
He started to grow longer and longer and longer, but stayed really skinny.
My husband started calling him his little wormling, so he became Worm. Worm
got into everything, and he knew how to get your attention.
He and our dog Happy got along great. They would go out into the backyard and
tag team squirrel hunt. He no longer can go outside, as he thought he was on
safari. A live baby copperhead was the last thing he brought home! He now
enjoys the world through a screen.
Worm continued to get bigger and bigger. We could never have imagined he could
physically get as big as he has! He now weighs eighteen pounds. He kept my husband
warm and became his best friend during a couple of very long years of
recovery. He has been a blessing and I really think if my husband hadn't had
Worm to keep him company and bring life into the house while he had to be
home for long periods of time, he would have gone nuts. I owe a lot of thanks
to Worm for this, he means the world to me.
