My
cat Spencer is a very special part of our family. Not only is he a
gorgeous Orange Tabby, he is a great communicator, he tells us what he
wants with his repertoire of meows and grunts and growls, he also shows us
where he wants to go so we can open a door or a gate or move a stack of books
or whatever so he can plunk himself where he wants to be to have a snooze! He
has never scratched anything in the house, but he loves to go in the backyard
and scratch his claws on the trunk of our maple tree.
He was rescued from a shelter ten years ago, he used to be extremely shy and
would hide whenever we had company, now he runs to the door when the doorbell
rings and greets people by "talking" to them and makes figure 8's around their
legs. He loves being picked up and being carried around the house as I take
him from window to window to spy on the neighbour's dogs and the birds in our
yard.
Spencer is eleven (we think) and we live in Smithville Ontario, about 45
kilometers from Niagara Falls. When I was sick with Pneumonia last year,
Spencer stayed with me in my bed and purred until I would fall asleep.
Sometimes he asks to go under the covers and so I lift up the blankets and he
squeezes in and keeps me warm. When he wants me to wake up he sometimes bites
my toes!
Silly Spencer!
