We
would like to introduce you to Furbee - she is a beautiful Ragdoll. We
adopted her a short time after we adopted our cat Rio and she is about four years
old. We rescued her from the same local shelter in Chatsworth, CA where we
found our other cat. We adopted her very soon after she was put there because
her owner had died. She blended into the family almost immediately but it
took a while for her and Rio to get used to each other. Now they are best
friends and often frisk around the house in the mornings. They are real
"buds".
Furbee believes she is queen of the house and demands royal attention and gets
it! She is really funny because she is so demanding and full of confidence as
opposed to Rio who quietly asks for what he wants and then meows a polite
"thank you"!
She loves to be brushed on demand and requires an immediate response when she
wants to go outside or come back in. Furbee shows us when she wants to be
brushed (her favorite form of attention) by laying out flat on the floor in a
very submissive position and then gets upset if we don't brush her pretty
soon thereafter. There is a lot of truth to the saying that "dogs have
"masters" and cats have "staff". Furbee has staff - us.
Both cats love to go to bed with us and understand when we say "let's go to
bed" - they don't cuddle, they just like being near us while we all sleep.
Recently I took a video of Furbee and her surprise encounter with a little
gopher in our back patio area. It's a hilarious look at a very brave little
gopher with no fear whatsoever and Furbee who doesn't quite know what to make
of him but wants to play! To see it all you have to do is go to YouTube and
type in "Furbee & the Gopher.MP4 YouTube" to view it.
We always bring both cats in the house if they are out on the patio before we
leave, and Furbee somehow knows when she's going to be put in the house because
we are leaving because she does her best to run away and hide!
Our animals bring us so much joy. Those sweet faces and beautiful blue eyes
melt our hearts every time!
