This
is Waboose. I brought him home in January of 2007 from the alley
behind the business where I work. He looked to be in good condition, so
I watched for "lost cat" notices around our small town; after four
weeks, there were none, so he stayed. (It would have been heartbreaking
to have to give him up after just the first day)! A vet check judged him
to be about nine months old and gave him a clean bill of health except
for a mis-aligned jaw. We couldn't determine if he was born that way or
if it was the result of an accident or abuse. One bottom canine tooth
was pushing up into the roof of his mouth, so it was surgically removed.
The jaw has not caused him any problems since, but it gives him a
comical looking sneer!
Waboose is an indoor/outdoor cat. He stays busy most of the time
outdoors exploring our 80 acres. During the three to four months of
winter, he stays mostly inside, but he lets me know when he needs to go
out to do his business (no litterbox), no matter what time of day or
night it is, and he is very persistent - there is no telling him "just a
minute." He has me well trained in that he gets what he wants when he
wants it, and it is now!
He has a soft, rather quiet voice and doesn't talk much. I do most of
the talking, and quite often he looks at me like I'm the dumbest thing
he's ever seen. I'm not offended as long as he lets me love and care for
him! After all, it is my duty to serve him... right??
